These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and liuliu (“we,” “us,” or the “app”) governing your use of the app. By creating an account or using liuliu, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app. Your privacy is covered separately in our Privacy Policy.
Who can use liuliu
You must be at least 16 years old to use liuliu. By using the app you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you give us when signing in is accurate. You’re responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity that happens under it.
Your account
Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider (Clerk). You agree to use a valid email or social login and not to impersonate anyone or access another person’s account without permission. You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Delete account, which permanently removes your trips and identity.
Your content
The trips, events, notes, documents you upload, and other material you create in liuliu are yours. You keep all rights to your content. You grant us only the limited permission needed to operate the app — to store your content on our servers and sync it back to your devices. We don’t claim ownership of it, and we don’t use it for advertising or sell it.
You’re responsible for the content you add, and you agree not to upload anything unlawful, infringing, or that violates someone else’s rights.
Acceptable use
When using liuliu, you agree not to:
- Break the law or infringe anyone’s rights.
- Attempt to access, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the app, our servers, or the services we rely on.
- Abuse, overload, or interfere with the app — including automated scraping or hammering our APIs.
- Resell, redistribute, or misuse map data, photos, or other third-party content surfaced in the app beyond what those providers’ terms allow.
Third-party services and content
liuliu relies on third-party providers — including Clerk (authentication), Microsoft Azure (storage), Mapbox (maps), and Unsplash (cover photos). Map data, imagery, and similar content are owned by those providers and subject to their terms. We’re not responsible for the accuracy of third-party data, such as map positions, place names, or travel details — always confirm anything you’re relying on for a real trip.
Booking links and how we keep the app free
liuliu is free to use. To help cover our costs, some links in the app — for example to book a stay, find activities, arrange airport transfers, search transport, or get an eSIM or travel insurance — are affiliate links. If you tap one and then make a booking on the partner’s site, we may earn a small commission. This is always at no extra cost to you — you pay the same price you would otherwise, and we never add a markup.
These links are optional and contextual — we show a relevant one next to an event, or trip essentials before you go, and you’re free to ignore them and book however you like. We don’t favor a partner for any reason other than relevance, and tapping a link is always your choice.
When you tap a booking link, you leave liuliu and are handed off to our affiliate network (Travelpayouts) and then the partner’s own site, each of which has its own terms and privacy practices. The booking itself is a contract between you and that partner — we’re not a party to it and aren’t responsible for the products, prices, availability, or service they provide. Always review the partner’s terms before you book.
The app is provided “as is”
liuliu is offered free of charge and on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don’t guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your data will always sync or be available. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, liuliu and its operator won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the app. Because the app is free, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for it — which is zero. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using liuliu and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or use the app in a way that harms other users, our providers, or us. We may also discontinue the app, or features of it, at any time. If we end your access for a reason other than a violation, you’ll still be able to delete your data where technically possible.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “last updated” date above, and for material changes we’ll make a reasonable effort to notify you in the app. Continuing to use liuliu after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the country in which the app’s operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Nothing here removes any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your home country.
